Welcome to St Nicholas Village
St Nicholas is a small village about 6 miles west of Cardiff on the A48 in the Vale of Glamorgan. While being only two minutes from M&S and Tesco's at Culverhouse Cross, it still retains the feeling of being in the middle of the countryside. It is also approximately six miles (as the crow flies) from the welsh coast and many houses in the village command some very beautiful views of the sea and the Somerset coast beyond.
The St Nicholas Social Committee are a group of volunteers who give of their own time to run social and charity events within the village. These events are generally well attended, mostly by St Nicholas residents but some surrounding villagers have been known to join in.
The Yearly Calendar
The events organized by the Social Committee are wide and varied. There are the annual ones like the
Safari Supper (usually held in May), the Summer Garden Party
and the Children's Hallowe'en Party, a very popular event with tickets sold in advance to
avoid disappointment. The Social Committee also run one-off events like 70's Discos, Musical Recitals, Fun Quiz and Fund Raising Events.
Newsletter
To advertise these events the Social Committee
have traditionally produced a newsletter, posters and flyers which they have distributed around the village.
While we will continue to distribute the paper newsletter we are launching this
new "St Nicholas in the Vale" web site to help reach more people within the village and keep everyone up to
date about forth coming village events.
