CARTEN 100 Cycle Ride
The CARTEN 100 cycle ride takes place roughly over a twelve hour period as
we take a leisurely ride from Cardiff to Tenby.
While the main aim is to get people on their bikes, a side effect
of the day is the money we raise for charity. This is done in three ways; 1) from the race entrance fee,
2) direct sponsorship for the company logos on the cycling shirts and 3) the CARTENers getting sponsored per mile.
Preparation
Riders have usually been new to this type of distance, so we encourage everyone to do some training for a few weeks prior to the ride to prepare the legs and backside! Preparation of your bike is also essential as punctures and mechanical failures tend to happen to the bikes which have not been in use for a while. In the last 3 years, almost every rider has completed the course and the support vehicle will do whatever it can to help you to finish.
Shirts
Each year we raise money via sponsorship of the Cycling Shirts and all new riders are expected to buy one of the
2010 CARTEN 100 Cycling Shirts. These are proper cycling shirts made of hi-tech material
and can be personalised with your name or nickname. See the
2009 Cycling Shirt
here.
The cost per shirt is £35.00, with all advertising monies raised going to this year's charity,
Ty Hafan. We have tried to keep the cost of the shirt as low as possible and this
is the cost price per shirt to us!
To order your shirt download the CARTEN 100 "2010 Shirt Order & Sponsorship Form" (.doc) or (.pdf) and follow the instructions. It's as easy as falling off a ...bike?
Entry Form
The Entry Form can be downloaded in either word document form or as a pdf file.
Entrance Fee
There will be an entry fee of £20.00 for all CARTENers, new and seasoned alike,
which will include a free Polo Shirt and a CARTEN 100 BBQ kindly hosted by
The Crown Inn, Tenby.
See 2009 Polo Shirt
here.
Insurance
To ensure all riders and organisers are fully protected this year we have registered with
everydaycycling.com, a resource provided by
British Cycling to encourage cycling by all groups
of people. This gives access to Event Insurance protecting riders, stewards and organisers
against any unforeseen circumstances.
