Where does the ride start from?

This year the start will be again at Sophia Gardens, with use of the Sophia Gardens cloakrooms, toilets and café as well as a dedicated parking/unloading area.

Where does the ride finish?

We aim to finish at Kiln Park, Tenby at about 6.15pm having re-grouped ten miles out in Red Roses at the Sporting Chance, where the landlord usually provides some sustenance. The Kiln Park Club is available for refreshments and for you to collect your "CARTEN 100" Polo Shirt.

What if I finish Earlier?

As riders get fitter and faster some will choose to get to Tenby earlier and the club in Kiln Park will be open after 2.00pm to recieve you with bike storage available.

What happens later on?

TBA.

What is the route?

A full listing of the route can be found here (Map & Written Directions (.pdf)), but basically we follow the A48/A483/ to Swansea. Then on towards The Mumbles to cut across the Gower on the Clyne Gardens cycle route, pass through Llanelli onto the Millennium Cycleway to Burry Port. From there to Camarthen on the A484 and onto the A40 to St. Clears. Finally the A477/A478 to Tenby, with a stop at Red Roses for refreshments.

How do I get home?

Assuming you don't want to cycle, friends, spouses, parents or scrounge a lift wherever you can. Best option is to persuade your spouse that you are going for a night out in Tenby and you'll be cycling. Might work!Top

Do you know of any accommodation?

What is essential to take on the ride?

Spare inner-tubes, a pump, suitable clothing for the conditions, high energy drinks and food. See Dr. Jon's Essential Spares advice.

Who is the ride for?

Everyone! We have had riders who haven't seen their bike in years to seasoned club riders. The secret of success is always to do some training for a few weeks before the ride and essentially make sure your bike is fit too as equipment failure can be a cruel way to have to quit. Age and sex are not important, being used to your saddle is!

Where does the money raised go?

All sponsorship raised by riders and from the shirt sponsorship goes direct to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

How much is the entry fee?

Entry for previous rider is £25 and for new riders £25 + £35 for a Short Sleeved Cycling Shirt in the Carten 100 colours. The shirt can of course be worn on subsequent rides. The entry includes a souvenir polo shirt at the end, as well as entertainment in the evening if you stay overnight in Tenby (Recommended).

What shirt size do I need?

Shirt sizes are on the entry form and are a race fit. If you require a looser fit get one size larger.

Where can I get a sponsor form from and where do I send the money?

Sponsorship Forms can be found here in word document or pdf. For payment see the CARTEN 100 page. Top

I want to stay in Tenby overnight, can I have some help with my luggage?

There are support vans following the ride which can take any luggage for you as well as carrying water and some isotonic drinks.

What happens if I need to withdraw/cancel?
